Last year, I made several boxes like this one from empty candy boxes...

And, it was such a hit I decided to make more this year.   Here's a few new ones I've done for Halloween 2010.

See more of the ones I made last year by clicking here.

These shadow boxes make spookylicious little decorations or ornaments!]

I don't have a sewing machine, and it takes a lot for me to need one bad enough to borrow one.  But I did just that when I saw this tutorial on Smashed Peas and Carrots blog showing how to secure a tablecloth.

Yes, it is July and here is my kids indoor picnic table with a Christmas tablecloth (taped underneath with black duct tape).  No hurry, huh?

Before:

Here is the after with sewn corners to keep it in place.  Soooo much better than the duct tape which keeps falling off after awhile.

Not too bad for my first attempt...

I liked it so much I did both of my kids' craft desks, too!

And finally, as long as I had the sewing machine out, I did the kitchen table, too...

Thanks for the great idea, Maggie!

Check out any garage sale, and I betcha you'll find several framed prints or just empty frames.  I love finding these and re-purposing them with a fresh look!

Take this sad framed picture I found at a garage sale for $1.

After cleaning the sticker off the glass, I just popped everything out and covered the existing cardboard backing with a black and white polka dot wrapping paper. Then I put a new print on top and put it back in the frame.  Here's the after...

Don't you love the print?  It's from Diana Duda and I just love it!  Check out her shop for more great art.  Looks awesome hanging in my little girls' polka dot bathroom...

Happy art makes my heart happy!  And when I can recycle something old and make it new again, it even better!
